“Beefheart Granulate” is a way to replace the uncontroversial frozen food and still benefit from the advantages of beef protein. From a natural standpoint, discus fish don't eat cows. However, what matters here is, of course, providing their charges with an easily accessible protein source, so that they are not exposed to the pressures of natural selection, but are given the best possible nutrition.
Raw beef heart, as used in frozen foods for example, contains long-chain collagens that discus fish cannot break down sufficiently due to a lack of enzymes. These indigestible bovine proteins can accumulate in layers on the intestinal wall, allowing parasites such as flagellates to multiply. Fish that have been fed raw beef heart for too long may therefore appear weak and emaciated and may even develop pitting disease. To avoid this problem, Discusfood processes only easily digestible beef proteins into "Beefheart Granulate," removing all harmful substances. Further enrichment with all the important vitamins, minerals, and fiber results in a balanced and complete staple food for the optimal growth and health of your ornamental fish.
Last but not least, it should be mentioned that granules cause significantly less water pollution compared to frozen foods, because, for example, no blood is used and the granules retain their shape in water for longer.
The softness of the granules is a special characteristic that further increases the acceptance and digestibility of the food.
